On the way to mom’s Wednesday, I got rear-ended. Not much damage to my car, but he hit me so hard that his airbag deployed. He then proceeded to curse me up one side and down the other, as if it were MY fault. The cops gave us some form to complete and send in and didn’t even give him a ticket!
The next day, I woke up and my back started hurting. I tried to just shine it on, but by Saturday the pain was excrutiating. I went to the doc and my back was spasming so bad that I had scoliosis from in my spine! She drugged me all up and I feel better now.
I stayed in Austin until yesterday afternoon. Mom had a bad “spell” again. I called the doctor who said when they happen to try to get her pulse and then take her blood pressure right after that. I don’t think any of them know what is causing this. She goes to her internist today with David so hopefully we can get some answers.
Please cross everything. It’s with a bank.
Her white matter disease has shown a significant increase since 2006. He thinks the seizures are from the blood pressure – that she’s passing out; not really seizing. He took her off of a bunch of her meds and will be consulting with her internist. Think good thoughts, please.
Mom suffered several seizures this weekend. The doctor on call upped one of her meds. She will let Dr. Nolan know tomorrow. Hopefully, he can speed up the MRI results and we can see what the deal is. They are very scary to watch.
I had a visit with a doctor today who weighs me every time I go – I’ve lost seventeen pounds in three months!

To Whom It May Concern:
This letter is my personal recommendation for Stacy Bales. I have been a manager at PEER 1, Stacy’s former employer, for several years. She is a knowledgeable Windows administrator with great customer skills and troubleshooting ability.
During her tenure with PEER 1, Stacy worked in several departments. I interacted with her most in her tenure of our Managed Hosting Support department. Stacy rapidly became the “go-to” person for Windows issues. Her knowledge level and no-nonsense attitude when it came to solving customer problems made her a star on the team.
I highly recommend Stacy for employment. She would make a great asset to any organization.
Sincerely,
Tony Vila

Mom is getting her MRI today so that is good. I have been dealing with her finances and doctors, etc. in between signing up for COBRA and working on my resume. My hard drive also failed so I have been backing up like crazy and dreading the reload process. It’s pretty stressful.
Boston was a wonderful distraction, especially being around David who is always positive and sure that things will all sort out, but now I am back to reality. My anxiety about Mom and my finances is off the charts which is causing some insomnia.
I bought a bunch of makeup and am getting my brows and chin waxed on Friday. I’ve also been doing well on my eating. I need to get to exercising but my bike is in the shop. I am spending the night with Mom on Thursday and Friday so I hope to get some kayaking in at some point this weekend.
I have been in worse situations. This too shall pass, right?
Here are the highlights:
She has epilepsy – scar in her head causes short-circuit. Hep C not helping either.
She had two tiny strokes which caused her white matter (I guess this is diseased). This was news to me.
Upped Neurontin because of seizure. If she has another one, he wants to go a totally different way on her meds.
No driving for six months by law (thank God).
Cognitive issues first appeared around 2006 – memory problems. He said he doesn’t think she’s getting worse but does have a problem.
MRI not done since 2006 – I advocated for one and they will call to set up appointment.
She is to go back in three months.
was UNBELIEVABLE!!!!! Here David and I are at Kingfish. We ate here twice
as I loved the sushi so much. It was called Snow Mountain – shrimp tempura with lobster on top! Delicious!

One night we ate at Bella Vista. The owner, Luccia, was the third generation owner. We got to talking with her after David asked her for a jalapeno (I know). She came back with a jalapeno and a habanero and tried to talk David into having the habanero. He said, “I know what that is – I’m not that stupid!” LOL.
Her daughter is crazy about all things Texas and ordered a full longhorn head which she named Darrell after the guy she bought it from. Next she wants cowhide furniture. It takes all kinds I guess!

I ate this guy the last night we were there. I guess my expectations were too high – it was good, but not off the charts.
