Colt McCoy breaks record – and I was there!

Filed under: Uncategorized — wimmin @ 7:47 am

I went to the UT – Kansas game last night – last night at home for Seniors McCoy and Jordan Shipley. My uncle has ass-kicking seats as he was a letterman in the 50’s.

It was so great to see Colt celebrate! He fired off the cannon, Old Smokey, banged Big Bertha 3x and made his way around the track touching everyone’s hands. What an emotional night! Here are some of Colt and Shipley, along with some of the pageantry of UT football.

God I wish I could sleep

Filed under: Uncategorized — wimmin @ 5:32 am

I had a dream earlier tonight that mom rose out of her coffin and said she isn’t going to live long.  It totally freaked me out and I called David who reassured me.  I haven’t gone back to sleep yet.  The last few days I’ve gotten up at 4:45.  I’m sure the time change is not helping.  There is so much I need to write re: Mom but it just seems overwhelming right now.  I will soon.

Busy, busy

Filed under: Uncategorized — wimmin @ 8:27 am

Again, I have not written in awhile.  It has been pretty crazy over here as I’m sure you can imagine.  I had to move all of my sites off of my friend’s server and that migration took about a week (this is very slow in IT).

And then there’s Mom.   She has surprised us all by being so amenable to moving to Assisted Living.  We found a beautiful place called Heartland Health Care which is very close to David.  It has a bright and cheery atmosphere, the people are cool, there is a wonderful rehab center, and her room has a door out to the courtyard so she can put a table and some chairs out there.

Yesterday, Mom’s friend from childhood, Emaly, went to the place with us.  She used to be an architect so she took measurements and laid out all of the furniture for us, then came home and tagged all the furniture that’s going for the movers.  There is an entire floorplan, to scale.  It was an amazing thing for her to do, and Emaly, if you are reading, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all of your help these past months.

We have begun packing, but Mom wants to take everything as I’m sure any of us would in her position.  So we didn’t get much done yesterday.  David is bringing boxes at 10 today and we have a very busy day.  We have to sort through all of her clothes and write her name in them as well as empty all of the drawers of the pieces Mom is taking.  Most of this is paperwork and mementos so this is going to be difficult.  Fortunately, Sissy (Mom’s caretaker) is coming over to help us.  Wish us luck!

I will update more as soon as I can.  I have several recruiters interested in me in Austin, so we’ll see how that works out.

Not a very good week :(

Filed under: Uncategorized — wimmin @ 7:52 pm

Last week, I was rear-ended by a very mean man who cussed me up one side and down the other.  He hit me so hard his air-bag deployed!  I stayed in the car and dialed 911 while he continued to scream at me.  My back was really hurting me the next couple of days so I got it checked out.  Fortunately, the insurance company settled with me as it was $415!  I suppose I will get my truck fixed this week sometime.

I went to the dentist today and because of a screw-up by the endodontist in GA it has absessed and needs to come out.  Fun.  I guess I will have Mom’s caretaker take me to get it out as I’m certainly not going to be awake when that happens.

I had one interview with a bank, but what the recruiter told me they wanted and what they actually wanted were two different things.  Sigh.  I was really hoping that would come through.

I hit a wall with Mom this weekend.  I just can’t do as much as I’ve  been doing anymore.  I am so burned out.  David says he is going to step up to the plate for awhile.  I tried to hibernate yesterday and she called and called.  I finally just turned the phone off.  Called this morning and got griped out for not picking up.  Something has got to give soon.  They need to find out what is causing these seizures and stop them because they just can’t continue like this.  Sorry for the downer post, but that’s what’s going on.

Another letter of recommendation

Just got this from the Director of my department.  I was pretty shocked, but I’ll take it!

To Whom It May Concern:

This letter is to confirm that Stacy Bales was an employee at PEER 1 in a full time position of Senior System Administrator.  During this time, I was her Director and saw first hand the experience and knowledge she possesses.

During her employment and association with me, Stacy has been a strong technical leader in a variety of Technical Support and Customer Service departments in two separate product lines.  For the past few years, Stacy’s focus has been on troubleshooting highly technical issues.  In all cases Stacy has exhibited above ordinary product knowledge and excellent technical skills.

Stacy is also extremely reliable and responsible and can be counted on to come through in difficult situations.  She gets along well with members of our work force in positions at all levels in the company.  Stacy has made contributions to the success of Peer 1.

It is with sincere enthusiasm that I recommend Stacy Bales to anyone looking for a talented individual, who is very reliable, with excellent experience, is a team player, and has a strong proven track record in technical troubleshooting.

Sincerely,

Brian Daffern

Rear-ended

Filed under: Uncategorized — wimmin @ 7:25 am

On the way to mom’s Wednesday, I got rear-ended.  Not much damage to my car, but he hit me so hard that his airbag deployed.  He then proceeded to curse me up one side and down the other, as if it were MY fault.  The cops gave us some form to complete and send in and didn’t even give him a ticket!

The next day, I woke up and my back started hurting.  I tried to just shine it on, but by Saturday the pain was excrutiating.  I went to the doc and my back was spasming so bad that I had scoliosis from in my spine!  She drugged me all up and I feel better now.

I stayed in Austin until yesterday afternoon.  Mom had a bad “spell” again.  I called the doctor who said when they happen to try to get her pulse and then take her blood pressure right after that.  I don’t think any of them know what is causing this.  She goes to her internist today with David so hopefully we can get some answers.
